What Happens If You Take Jardiance at Night

It’s said that the night is always darkest before the dawn, and there may be all sorts of prophetic value in that. But for Type 2 diabetics still sound asleep around 5 30am it’s unlikely that they’re thinking prophetically at all, or whether or not their blood sugar levels are in check. But when the sun comes up they are probably getting up and starting their just like most everyone else. Jardiance is a medication for Type 2 diabetes management, but the sun will set again and so what happens if you take Jardiance at night?

If you take this medication closer to your bedtime then it’s not going to absorbed as well, and this will limit the effectiveness it has with lowering blood sugar levels. When the body is in its sleep state the different digestive processes that regulate how nutrients are absorbed through intestine walls are slowed. This applies to oral medications in the same way, and it’s the same principle that advises you not to eat closer to bedtime if you have indigestion issues or are concerned about weight gain.

Reduced effectiveness with blood sugar regulation is what happens if you take Jardiance at night. Morning is best for this medication, and if you’re the type of doing a prolonged fast and not eating until noon then that’s fine too. Jardiance is a medication that can be taken with or without food and either way will work equally effectively. The drug is absorbed rapidly, reaching its peak level in your system about an hour and a half after you take it. You can take it may be a little later in the mid-morning, but don’t push it past that time.

Better Diabetes Management

Not much more to say about what happens if you take Jardiance at night. There’s no danger to it, but you may not be getting the results you need with blood sugar control. That’s going to be reflected in A1C test scores, and so what we’ll do to conclude this blog entry is share some tips about better diabetes management regimens and improve your insulin sensitivity. We can also look at which is better for weight loss, Jardiance or Ozempic. Semaglutide (Ozempic) is more effective for losing weight than Empagliflozin (Jardiance).

Portion control is where you can start. Gradually decreased the size of the food servings you’re having with meals. Next, eat less starchy carbs as part of those meals. If you know normal blood sugar levels after eating then you’ll see how starchy carbs (potatoes, pasta, etc.) will make your blood sugar shoot up nearly instantaneously. Getting more exercise is very beneficial too if you want to increase insulin sensitivity and help your body control blood sugar naturally.

What happens if you take Jardiance at night? It is possible that you will get less effectiveness from your medication and less benefit from these other approaches to having lower blood sugar levels. Take Jardiance in the morning and then make those eating and exercise habit changes to see the results you are hoping to have for yourself.
