Terms & Conditions of Program
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.
ACULAR LS (ketorolac tromethamine) is a medication prescribed to treat pain and itching after eye surgery. It can also be used for allergic conjunctivitis (seasonal allergies).
ACULAR LS is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) medication. NSAIDs are a type of pain medication that works by reducing chemical signals that cause pain and inflammation. ACULAR LS blocks the enzymes cyclooxygenase 1 and cyclooxygenase 2, preventing the formation of prostaglandins that cause pain and inflammation.
Instill one drop into the affected eye(s) two to four times daily as directed by your physician.
The number of times you will need to use the medication per day and for how many days depends on the type of surgery.
Do not touch the tip of the dropper to the eye. Doing so may contaminate the medication and lead to bacterial or viral infections of the eye.
The active ingredient in ACULAR LS is ketorolac tromethamine 0.4%.
The name for ACULAR LS generic is also ketorolac tromethamine.
Since eye medications are not absorbed into the bloodstream, they do not have drug interactions with most other medications.
However, when using other eye drops, separate their administration by at least five minutes.
