What is a Generic Drug?

Directions

Your Anusol HC suppositories dosage will be determined by the treating physician. The medication should be used as directed.

Instructions include removing the wrapper and inserting one suppository into the anus in the morning, at night, and after each bowel movement, up to a maximum of three per day for a maximum of one week.

Ingredients

Hydrocortisone acetate is the active ingredient in Anusol HC.

Kaolin light and suppocire BS2 pastilles (hard fat) are included excipients.

Other ingredients include bismuth subgallate, bismuth oxide, balsam Peru, benzyl benzoate, and zinc oxide.

Contraindications

Do not use Anusol HC if you have tubercular, fungal, and most viral lesions such as herpes simplex, vaccinia, and varicella, if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, if you are pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding.

  • Before you begin treatment with Anusol HC, talk to your doctor about:
    • All the medications you take, including prescription and nonprescription medications

  • Anusol HC is associated with the following warnings and precautions:
    • Consult your doctor before using if you have rectal bleeding or blood in the stool.
    • Systemic absorption is possible.
    • If your symptoms get worse or do not go away, stop using and contact your doctor.
    • Systemic corticosteroid effects may occur with long-term or excessive use of Anusol HC. Anusol HC should not be used for more than 7 days unless your doctor instructs you otherwise.
    • Vision disturbances such as blurred vision can occur.
