Bupropion hydrobromide is the active ingredient in Aplenzin.
Glyceryl behenate, polyvinyl alcohol, ethylcellulose, polyethylene glycol, dibutyl sebacate, and povidone are the inactive ingredients. Carnauba wax is also a component of the 174 mg and 348 mg tablets.
Patients who have any of the following conditions should not take Aplenzin:
Patients undergoing sudden discontinuation of alcohol, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, or antiepileptic drugs should not take Aplenzin.
Aplenzin should not be taken with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) aimed to treat psychiatric disorders or within 14 days of discontinuing an MAOI aimed to treat psychiatric disorders.
Patients receiving linezolid or intravenous methylene blue should not start Aplenzin.
Aplenzin side effects include but are not limited to dry mouth, trouble sleeping, nausea, dizziness, sore throat, anxiety, tremor, palpitation, abdominal pain, agitation, sweating, urinary frequency, ringing of the ears, muscle pain, anorexia, and rash.
