Take Augmentin as directed by your doctor. Finish all of the medication, even if you start to feel better.
Augmentin dosing and treatment duration depends on the patient's age and the type of infection that is being treated. Patients typically take Augmentin by mouth every 8 to 12 hours.
Before using the Augmentin suspension, shake it well. Store it in the refrigerator and discard any remainder after 10 days.
Amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium are the active ingredients in Augmentin.
Patients who are allergic to penicillins should not take Augmentin.
Patients who have had cholestatic jaundice or liver problems caused by Augmentin should avoid the medication.
Diarrhea, nausea, skin rashes, itching, vomiting, and vaginitis are some Augmentin side effects. However, these are not all the side effects that can be caused by Augmentin. Call your doctor right away if you develop bothersome or persistent side effects.
