Baqsimi should be used as your doctor has instructed. The information and instructions for use that are supplied with your prescription should be carefully read. You and/or a caregiver should be instructed on the signs and symptoms of low blood sugar. Any questions or concerns may be referred to your doctor or pharmacist.

Recommended dosage and administration - one actuation into one nostril: Place the tip of the intranasal device into one nostril. Press down on the device plunger until the green line is no longer visible. The dose does not need to be inhaled. If Baqsimi is used, emergency care should be sought immediately.

Ingredients

Glucagon is contained in Baqsimi. Excipients include betadex and dodecylphosphocholine.

Contraindications

Some patients should avoid using Baqsimi, including those who have pheochromocytoma, insulinoma, or an allergy to glucagon or to any of the excipients in Baqsimi.

Cautions

  • Before using Baqsimi, discuss the following with your doctor:
    • All the prescription and nonprescription medications you take
    • Your allergies
    • Your current health conditions
    • Your past medical history
    • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Baqsimi may not be effective in starving patients, patients with adrenal insufficiency, or in patients with chronic low blood sugar; therefore, they may need to be treated with glucose.

Side Effects

Baqsimi side effects include, but are not limited to, nausea, headache, vomiting, upper respiratory tract infection, watery eyes, eye redness, or itchy nose, throat, and eyes. Inform your doctor of any bothersome or persistent side effects you may experience.
