Terms & Conditions of Program
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.
Cardizem LA contains Diltiazem, a medication known as a calcium channel blocker. It is used to treat high blood pressure and chest pain, which is also known as angina. It works by relaxing the blood vessels, making it easier for blood to flow and reducing the pressure on the heart. Cardizem LA is available as extended-release tablets, meaning the medicine is released into the body slowly over time, providing longer-lasting effects compared to regular tablets.

Cardizem LA should be taken orally once per day, ideally at the same time every day to maintain consistent blood levels of the medication. The tablets should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed, as this helps the medicine work properly over time. When starting treatment for high blood pressure, the usual dosage is between 180 to 240 mg once daily, but healthcare providers may adjust the dosage based on how well the medication works for each person.
The active ingredient in Cardizem LA is Diltiazem.
