Directions

Cerdelga should be taken as your doctor has directed. An appropriate treatment regimen for you, including Cerdelga dosing, will depend on your CYP2D6 genotype as determined by a test cleared by the FDA.

Avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking Cerdelga. The capsules should be swallowed whole; avoid crushing, dissolving, or opening them.

Store Cerdelga capsules between 20°C and 25°C (68°F and 77°F); keep away from children.

Ingredients

Eliglustat is the active ingredient in Cerdelga.

Candurin silver fine, FD&C blue 2, gelatin, glyceryl behenate, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, and yellow iron oxide are the inactive ingredients included.

Contraindications

Contraindications based on your CYP2D6 genotype:

Extensive metabolizers (EMs)

  • Taking a moderate or strong CYP2D6 inhibitor with a moderate or strong CYP3A inhibitor
  • Moderate or severe liver dysfunction
  • Mild liver dysfunction taking a moderate or strong CYP2D6 inhibitor

Immediate metabolizers (IMs)

  • Taking a moderate or strong CYP2D6 inhibitor with a moderate or strong CYP3A inhibitor
  • Taking a CYP3A inhibitor that is strong
  • Liver dysfunction of any degree

Poor metabolizers (PMs)

  • Taking a CYP3A inhibitor that is strong
  • Liver dysfunction of any degree

Cautions

  • Before you begin treatment with Cerdelga, discuss the following with your doctor:
    • All the medications you take, including prescription and nonprescription medications
    • Your allergies
    • Your existing health conditions
    • Your previous medical history
    • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Patients with pre-existing heart disease, long QT syndrome, and are receiving Class IA or Class III antiarrhythmic medications should avoid taking Cerdelga.

Side Effects

Cerdelga side effects include but are not limited to fatigue, headache, nausea, diarrhea, back pain, pain in the arms and legs, and upper abdominal pain.
