Terms & Conditions of Program
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.
Your doctor may prescribe Ciloxan to treat bacterial eye infections like conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers. These infections often cause redness, pain, and discharge, leading to severe complications if untreated.
The active ingredient, ciprofloxacin, is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It functions by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase, an enzyme crucial for bacterial replication, effectively eliminating the bacteria and resolving the infection.

The usual directions are to apply a small amount of Ciloxan ointment (approximately a 1/2-inch ribbon) to the affected eye(s) three times daily for the first two days.
After that, reduce to twice daily for the next five days, or follow your healthcare provider's instructions. Ensure the entire course of treatment is completed, even if symptoms improve.
To prevent contamination, do not touch the ointment tube tip to the eye or any other surface. Always wash your hands before and after applying the ointment.
The active ingredient in Ciloxan is ciprofloxacin.
There are no known drug interactions with ciprofloxacin eye ointment because it is applied topically to the outside of the body. If you are taking oral or intravenous ciprofloxacin, please see your doctor or pharmacist for a list of side effects.
Ciloxan may cause temporary blurred vision. Refrain from driving or operating machinery until your vision is clear.
Avoid using Ciloxan if you have allergies to ciprofloxacin or any other components in the ointment.
