What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

Description

Cromolyn Ophthalmic is a prescription eye drop medication for treating eye allergy and infection conditions like vernal conjunctivitis (pink eye) and vernal keratoconjunctivitis. The active ingredient, sodium cromoglycate, is a mast stabilizer that prevents mast cells from being overwhelmed by stemming the production of histamines that cause the itchy, red, and watery eyes that come with eye allergies. Vernal keratitis affects young boys most commonly, and treating either condition without delay is very important to prevent the risk of further complications.

You can buy Cromolyn eye drops with a doctor’s prescription at your local pharmacy, and your best price on them will be when you order medication online from Canada Drugs Direct.

Directions

A person’s Cromolyn eye drops dosage may vary based on their response, but four times a day is typical, and treatment may be continued for as long as 3 months.

  • Next look downward and gently close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes
  • Place your index finger at the corner of the eye near your nose and apply pressure
