Emtricitabine is the active ingredient contained in Emtriva.
The inactive ingredients in Emtriva 200 mg capsules include the following: crospovidone, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, titanium dioxide, gelatin, and FD&C blue No. 2.
Inactive ingredients in the oral solution include the following: cotton candy flavor, FD&C yellow No. 6, edetate disodium, methylparaben and propylparaben (preservatives), sodium phosphate (monobasic), propylene glycol, water, and xylitol (sweetener). To balance pH, sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid may be added.
Do not take Emtriva if you have an allergy to any of its ingredients.

Some, but not all, side effects associated with Emtriva include headache, diarrhea, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, depression, trouble sleeping, abnormal dreams, rash, abdominal pain, weakness, increased cough, stuffy nose, and skin hyperpigmentation.
