What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

Description

Epuris is a prescription acne treatment medication used to treat nodular acne and inflammatory acne. It is a Vitamin A derivative and acne retinoid that inhibits sebaceous glands in the skin so the produce less sebum and pores are less clogged with it as a result. Excess sebum also creates an environment where the bacteria that causes acne is more able to thrive and limiting that is also a part of how Epuris works for effective acne treatment. This medication may also be prescribed to treat recalcitrant acne or acne conglobata. With isotretinoin it is important to understand that acne may initially become worse before improvements are seen.

You can buy isotretinoin for acne with a prescription, and your best price on it will be when you order medication online from Canada Drugs Direct.

Directions

The usual starting daily dose is 0.5 mg per kilogram of body weight taken daily for a period of 2 to 4 weeks. Dosage may then be adjusted based on body weight, severity of acne, and your response to the medication. Epuris should be taken as a single dose or in 2 divided doses during the day.

Isotretinoin should be taken with food.

Ingredients

The active ingredient in Epuris is Isotretinoin.

Cautions

Inform your doctor if you have any history of kidney or liver problems, high blood cholesterol, excessively high Vitamin A levels, or you are taking tetracycline antibiotics before beginning on Epuris.

Isotretinoin should not be used by women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, and this is because of the risk of serious birth defects. A woman should not use Isotretinoin in any form unless approved by a doctor and she uses effective birth control without any interruption for one month before, during, and for one month after stopping isotretinoin.

Isotretinoin increases skin sun sensitivity and using sun protection and / or shading over your face while taking this medication is advisable if you will have prolonged time in the sun with exposed facial skin or elsewhere on your body where you are treating acne.

Medication may cause dry eyes, digestive system irritation, increased blood lipids (cholesterol), or decreased night vision.

In the event you miss a dose, do not take a make-up dose of the medication. Resume taking the medication the next day at the same time. Frequently missing daily doses of isotretinoin will significantly take away from the effectiveness with acne reduction.

Medication should be stored at room temperature and out of reach of children

Interactions

Isotretinoin interactions between Epuris and other Rx or OTC medications are possible, and they include acitretin / carbamazepine / vitamin A / phenytoin / porfimer / progestin-only birth control pills / St. John's wort / tetracycline antibiotics like doxycycline, minocycline, tetracycline / tigecycline / tretinoin. Inform your doctor of all medications you are currently taking before getting a prescription and proceeding to buy isotretinoin for acne.

Side Effects

Isotretinoin side effects may occur and some users may experience dry eyes, dry or itchy skin, dry mouth or nose, flaking skin, increased sensitivity of skin to sunlight, nosebleeds, peeling of skin on palms of hands or soles of feet, stomach upset, thinning of hair, or unusual tiredness.
