What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

Description

The Humapen Savvio is a reusable insulin pen produced for the self-injection of 3ml Lilly insulin cartridges with the use of disposable insulin pen needles. The Savvio is designed for ease of use, durability, and also versatility with the way user can give themselves anywhere from 1 to 60 units of insulin. Users are able to dial in doses one unit at a time, and in the event the pen is overloaded and you’ve dialed in the wrong dose it can be corrected without wasting any insulin.

You can buy Humapen Savvio at many pharmacies, but your best Humapen Savvio price will be when you order medication online from us.

Directions

Inspect insulin cartridge to make sure it is not cracked or broken and the insulin has not expired before inserting the insulin cartridge into Humapen Savvio insulin pen

Pen is recommended for use with Becton, Dickinson, and Company (BD) pen needles

A new needle should be used for each injection for sterility plus preventing leakage of insulin, air bubbles, and reducing needle clogs

Priming

Humapen Savvio insulin pen must be primed until you see insulin at the needle tip before each injection. Injection cannot proceed until this is seen. Failing to prime the pen may result in an incorrect dosage being administered.

Injection

Do not push down on the injection button while dialing your dose

Hold needle tip over skin and place down firmly on skin. Push the injection button straight in for the dose to be delivered

Hold in place with injection button fully pressed for 5 seconds to ensure entirety of dose has been injected

Care and Storage

Remove the needle after every use. Pens should not be stored with the needle attached.

Keep your insulin cartridges and needles out of the reach and sight of children.

Keep reusable insulin injection pen away from dust

Keep out of sunlight

Cautions

Safety instructions for injections will vary based on the type of insulin being used, and you must read and follow those instructions exactly in order to use the Humapen Savvio pen safely

If injection button does not depress freely it may mean that the needle is clogged. A clogged needle means you need to replace it with a new one

If dose is greater than the number of units left in the cartridge, you must do one of 2 options; either inject the amount remaining in your current cartridge and then use a new cartridge to complete your Dose OR inject the full dose with a new cartridge.

Do not attempt to dial past the point where you have insulin remaining in cartridge. This may result in injecting the partial dose and then injecting the remaining dose using a new cartridge, or you may be injecting the full dose with a new cartridge.

Choosing a new skin site for each injection may be recommended based on what is specified with the insulin you are using (standard insulin pen self-injection sites are buttocks, upper thighs, abdomen, or back of upper arms) as repeated injections in the same site increases the chance of lipodystrophy

Interactions

Any interactions between the insulin being used for a Humapen Savvio insulin pen and other Rx medications will be related to that specific type of insulin. Inform your doctor of all medications you are currently taking before purchasing your insulin and then proceeding to buy a Humapen Savvio.

Side Effects

Side effects from injectable insulin will depend on the type of insulin being used. The type of reusable insulin cartridge injection pen being used will not factor into side effects being experienced.
