What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Description

Journavx (suzetrigine) is a nonopioid medication prescribed for treating adults with moderate-to-severe acute pain.

A sodium channel blocker, Journavx targets nerves outside the brain to lower pain signals before they can reach the brain and are perceived as pain.

Journavx is dispensed in 50 mg tablets for oral administration.

Directions

Journavx should be taken as your doctor has directed on the prescription label. Swallow the tablets whole, without chewing or crushing them. Avoid eating food or consuming drinks that contain grapefruit while using Journavx.

Journavx tablets should be kept at temperatures between 20°C and 25°C (68°F and 77°F).

Ingredients

Suzetrigine is the active ingredient in Journavx.

Croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose acetate succinate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, FD&C Blue #2 aluminum lake, polyethylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol-partially hydrolyzed, talc, and titanium dioxide are the inactive ingredients included.

Contraindications

Do not take Journavx with strong CYP3A inhibitors. If you are uncertain about whether you take these medications, consult your doctor.

    • Your allergies

  • Journavx should be avoided in patients with severe liver impairment. Patients with moderate liver impairment may have an increased risk of adverse reactions with Journavx use.

Commonly reported side effects of Journavx included rash, itching, muscle spasms, and elevated creatine phosphokinase. These may not be all the side effects that can occur; therefore, call your doctor right away if you have bothersome or persistent side effects.
