What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

Description

Luvox is a prescription antidepressant medication that is used to treat depression as well as for OCD treatment for obsessive compulsive disorder. It is an SSRI class medication and it works by slowing the reuptake of serotonin in the brain so that more of the neurotransmitter remains in circulation and helps people manage depression or OCD. Luvox may also be prescribed for treating anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, or as an alternative PTSD treatment medication.

You can buy Luvox with a doctor's prescription, and your best price on it will be when you order medication online from Canada Drugs Direct.

Directions

Once you are prescribed and buy Luvox, the standard Luvox dosage is to take the medication 1 or 2 times daily as indicated in your prescription.

It can be taken with or without food.

If taking medication twice daily, then the larger of the 2 doses as indicated in your prescription should be taken at bedtime.

Ingredients

The active ingredient in Luvox is Fluvoxamine.

Cautions

Tell your doctor if you have any history of bipolar or manic-depressive disorder, suicide attempts or suicidal thoughts, liver problems, seizures, low blood sodium, intestinal ulcers or bleeding, or closed-angle glaucoma before beginning on Luvox.

This medication may make you drowsy or dizzy.

Fluvoxamine may cause a heart rhythm disorder called QT Prolongation, and potassium or magnesium deficiencies increase a person's risk for this when using Luvox medication.

Older adults may be more sensitive to Luvox side effects.

Interactions

There is the possibility of negative drug interaction risks between Luvox and other Rx medications, including antiplatelet drugs like clopidogrel, NSAIDs like ibuprofen, blood thinners like warfarin, pimozide, thioridazine, alosetron, tacrine, tizanidine, and benzodiazepines like diazepam and triazolam. Tell your doctor of all medications you are currently taking before getting a prescription and proceeding to buy Luvox online.

Side Effects

Luvox side effects are uncommon, but some users may experience nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, appetite loss, sleeping troubles, weakness, or excessive sweating. If Luvox side effects are experienced you should discontinue use and speak to your doctor again regarding antidepressant and OCD treatment medication alternatives.
