  • Micronor (norethindrone) is associated with the following precautions:
    • Keep up with your doctor appointments so that your doctor can monitor your progress.
    • You may experience spotting or breakthrough vaginal bleeding during the first 3 months of use; contact your doctor if bleeding continues for more than 1 week, if bleeding continues after you have been taking hormonal contraceptives for more than 3 months and on schedule, or if you miss a menstrual period.
    • Stop taking Micronor (norethindrone) and contact your doctor if you suspect that you are pregnant.
    • Do not smoke while taking Micronor (norethindrone). Smoking while taking the medication can increase your risk of stroke, heart attack, or blood clot. If you are overweight or have diabetes, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure, the risk is greater.
    • Contact your doctor if you experience issues wearing contact lenses or if you have blurry vision, trouble reading, or any other vision changes while taking Micronor (norethindrone).
    • Tell your doctor that you are taking Micronor (norethindrone) prior to undergoing any medical tests.

Side Effects

Micronor (norethindrone) side effects may include but are not limited to bleeding that is frequent or irregular, menstrual changes, vision changes, chest tightness, dizziness, rapid heart rate, headache, hives/itching/rash, nausea/vomiting, blood clots, and sleep problems.
