The most common Niaspan FCT side effects include flushing, which may involve warmth, redness, itching, or tingling sensations, particularly during the initial stages of treatment. Flushing episodes often improve with continued use and can be minimized by following dosing guidelines or taking aspirin beforehand.
Niaspan FCT may lead to more serious reactions, including liver function problems, severe allergic reactions like angioedema or anaphylaxis, and, rarely, conditions such as rhabdomyolysis. Symptoms of these include persistent nausea, yellowing of the skin or eyes, muscle pain or weakness, and difficulty breathing.
