Your doctor may prescribe Nivestym for the treatment of many conditions, including to decrease the incidence of infection in patients with non-myeloid cancer receiving immunosuppressive drugs, acute myeloid leukemia (AML), bone marrow transplantation (BMT), peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) collection, neutropenia.
Nivestym and the generic filgrastim are similar to colony-stimulating factors (CSF) that naturally occur in the body. Nivestym binds to stem cells in the bone marrow and causes them to grow and divide.

Tell your doctor immediately if you experience abdominal pain or shoulder pain while taking this drug because it could be a symptom of impending splenic rupture, which is a medical emergency.
Stop this drug if you have trouble breathing. Tell your doctor if you have a history of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).
Tell your doctor if you have a history of sickle cell disease.
Nivestym may cause kidney damage in certain patients. Use caution if you have a history of kidney disease.
Do not use this drug if you have a history of serious allergic reactions to CSF products, filgrastim, or pegfilgrastim.
