Description

Onbrez Breezhaler is used for the maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in adults. It helps relax the muscles of the airways, keeping the airways open.

Onbrez Breezhaler is available in capsules that contain an inhalation powder. Do not swallow the capsules; use the capsules only with an Onbrez Breezhaler device. A capsule is placed into the inhaler and the powder is breathed in through the mouth.

Directions

Onbrez Breezhaler should be used as directed by your doctor. Read the information leaflet that is supplied with your prescription. You should be taught how to properly use your Onbrez Breezhaler by your healthcare provider. Inform your doctor or pharmacist of any questions or concerns you have.

Recommended dosing:

150 mcg capsule once daily at the same time each day. Your doctor may increase your dose, depending on how severe your COPD is.

Do not store above 30°C (86°F).

Ingredients

Indacaterol is the active ingredient in Onbrez Breezhaler. Other ingredients include lactose and gelatin.

Contraindications

Onbrez Breezhaler should not be used in patients who are allergic to any of its ingredients.

Cautions

  • Before you start treatment with Onbrez Breezhaler, inform your doctor of:
    • All the medications you take, including prescription and nonprescription
    • Your allergies
    • Your current health problems
    • Your past medical history
    • Your pregnancy or breastfeeding status
  • Asthma should not be treated with Onbrez Breezhaler.
  • Onbrez Breezhaler should not be used as rescue treatment.
  • Onbrez Breezhaler can cause hypersensitivity reactions immediately after use. If you have difficulty breathing or swallowing; swelling of the tongue, lips, or face; rash; or hives, immediately seek emergency care.
  • Onbrez Breezhaler can cause potentially life-threatening paradoxical bronchospasm. If this occurs, stop using Onbrez Breezhaler and immediately seek medical care.
  • Patients with cardiovascular, convulsive, or thyroid conditions should use Onbrez Breezhaler cautiously.
  • Low potassium levels can occur with Onbrez Breezhaler use.
  • High blood sugar levels can occur with Onbrez Breezhaler use.
  • The capsules contain lactose; therefore, patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, total lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should avoid using Onbrez Breezhaler.

Side Effects

Inflammation of the nose and throat, upper respiratory tract infection, chest pain, cough, and muscle cramps are common Onbrez Breezhaler side effects. If you have bothersome or persistent side effects, inform your doctor immediately.
