    • Hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma that is aggressive and fatal can occur.
    • Macrophage activation syndrome
    • Harm to an unborn baby; women of reproductive potential should be advised to use effective contraceptive methods during treatment and for 6 months after taking the final dose of the treatment regimen. Males of female partners of reproductive potential should be advised to use effective contraceptive methods during treatment and for 3 months after receiving the final dose.
    • Purinethol is cytotoxic; therefore, special handling and disposal procedures should be followed.

Purinethol side effects may include but are not limited to low blood cell counts, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, general discomfort, and rash.
