Qtern is dose by mouth once daily in the morning with or without food.
Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush, cut, or chew the tablet.
Dapagliflozin and saxagliptin are the active ingredients contained in Qtern.
You should not take Qtern if you are allergic to dapagliflozin, saxagliptin, or any of the other ingredients in Qtern. Before starting Qtern, talk to your doctor about any allergies you may have.
You should not take Qtern if you have moderate to severe kidney impairment, end-stage renal disease, or if you are on dialysis.
Tell your doctor about any medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements.
Qtern can cause pancreatitis. Tell your doctor if you drink alcohol or if you have ever had pancreatitis, gallstones, or high triglycerides. Stop taking Qtern and seek medical attention immediately if you develop severe stomach pain that won't go away.
Qtern can cause heart failure. Tell your doctor if you have heart problems or kidney problems. Seek medical attention immediately if you develop breathing problems, swelling in your lower extremities, rapid weight gain, or unusual tiredness.
Qtern can cause dehydration. Tell your doctor if you have blood pressure problems, kidney problems, or if you are on a low-salt diet.
Qtern can cause ketoacidosis. Seek medical attention immediately if you develop nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, trouble breathing, or feel tired.
Qtern can cause kidney problems. Seek medical attention immediately if you cannot eat or drink as much as usual, if you have diarrhea or vomiting, or if you've been in the heat for a prolonged period of time.
Qtern can cause urinary tract infections. Tell your doctor if you have burning when urinating, frequent urination, feel the need to urinate immediately, pain in your pelvis, or blood in your urine.
Qtern can cause low blood sugar levels. Your risk is higher if you take another medicine that can cause low blood sugar. You should be aware of the symptoms of low blood sugar such as sweating, nervousness, dizziness, fast heartbeat, hunger, headache, confusion, mood changes, irritability, vision changes, or weakness. If you have low blood sugar, treat it as your doctor has instructed.
Qtern can cause bacterial skin infections around the genitals. Seek medical attention immediately if you experience a fever, weakness, or tiredness and if you experience redness, swelling, or tenderness of the skin around your genitals.
Qtern can cause vaginal yeast infections. Tell your doctor if you experience vaginal odor, discharge (can be lumpy), or itching.
Qtern can cause penile yeast infections. Tell your doctor if you experience itching, redness, or swelling of the penis or if you experience a rash, odorous penile discharge, or penile pain.
Qtern can cause joint pain. Contact your doctor if you develop severe pain in your joints.
Qtern can cause a skin reaction called bullous pemphigoid that may require hospitalization. Seek medical attention immediately if you develop skin blisters or breakdown.
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or plan to get pregnant.
Let your doctor know if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed.
