Terms & Conditions of Program
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

Tiazac should be taken exactly as prescribed by a healthcare provider. Generally, patients take this medication by mouth, with or without food, at the same time each day. It is crucial not to crush or chew the capsules, as doing so can release the entire dose at once, increasing the risk of side effects. If swallowing capsules is challenging, patients may carefully open the capsule and sprinkle its contents on a spoonful of applesauce. This mixture should be swallowed immediately without chewing, followed by a glass of water.
The active ingredient in Tiazac is Diltiazem HCl.
Avoid taking or using this medication if any of the following apply:
The most common side effects of Tiazac include headache, dizziness, and swelling in the lower legs (peripheral edema). Some people may also experience indigestion, nasal congestion, or flu-like symptoms. Gastrointestinal discomfort, such as nausea or diarrhea, has been reported in some cases. These side effects are generally mild and tend to improve with continued use.
Tiazac may cause serious heart-related side effects, such as abnormal heart rhythms, low blood pressure, or heart block. Rare cases of liver injury, severe skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and blood disorders have been reported. Some patients may also experience mood changes, hallucinations, or nerve-related symptoms like tingling or tremors. If you develop chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe dizziness, or a skin rash, seek medical attention immediately.
