What is a Generic Drug?

Description

Tri Lo Sprintec is a hormonal birth control medication for women to prevent pregnancy. It works by creating a thick cervical mucus to block sperm and a thin uterine wall to prevent any fertilized eggs from attaching, as well as preventing ovulation. It can also regulate a woman's menstrual cycle and promote lighter and less painful periods. Tri Lo Sprintec may also be prescribed to treat moderate acne as well as working as a contraceptive for women. The standard Tri Lo Sprintec dosage is 1 tablet taken on the first day of menses and then continuing on a 21-day cycle.

Directions

Take first active tablet on the first day of menses.

Take subsequent active tablets once daily at the same time each day over 21 days.

Following those 21 days, take one white inactive tablet daily for 7 days and at the same time of day as active tablets were taken

Begin each subsequent pack on the same day of the week as the first cycle pack.

The active ingredients in Tri Lo Sprintec hormonal birth control are Norgestimate and Ethinyl Estradiol.

Cautions

Tell your doctor if you have any history of arterial or venous thrombotic diseases, deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, inherited or acquired hyper coagulopathies, cerebrovascular disease, coronary artery disease, thrombogenic valvular or thrombogenic rhythm diseases of the heart, uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes mellitus with vascular disease, migraine headaches, liver tumors or liver disease, undiagnosed abnormal uterine bleeding, Hepatitis C or cancer before beginning on this birth control medication.

Medication may not be suitable for women who are smokers.

And may not be suitable for women who are over 35 years of age.

Tri Lo Sprintec side effects may be more severe for some women.

Interactions

There is the possibility of drug interaction risks between Tri Lo Sprintec and certain Rx medications including; Colesevelam, itraconazole, voriconazole, fluconazole, ketoconazole, ombitasvir, paritaprevir, and ritonavir. Side Effects
