Terms & Conditions of Program
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.
Vyloma, known by the generic name Imiquimod, is a topical cream classified as an immune response modifier. It activates the immune system to treat external genital and perianal warts. It works by prompting the body to produce interferon and other cytokines, substances that play a role in fighting viruses.

Vyloma is typically applied in a thin layer directly to the affected area of the skin just before bedtime. It’s crucial to rub the cream in gently until it's absorbed. After application, leave the medicine on the skin for approximately 8 hours, which involves avoiding water on the treated area during this period. After the treatment time has elapsed, patients should wash the area with mild soap and water. Treatment usually lasts for up to eight weeks.
The main active ingredient in Vyloma is Imiquimod.
Avoid taking or using this medication if you have a known hypersensitivity or allergy to Imiquimod or any component of the formulation.
Vyloma is known to cause a variety of skin reactions at the site of application, such as redness, swelling, sores, ulcers, pain, irritation, and changes in skin color that may be permanent. Other effects include skin thickening, peeling, scabbing, itching, burning, bleeding, and discharge. Patients may also experience systemic effects like pain, fever, muscle and joint aches, fatigue, flu-like symptoms, headache, nausea, and diarrhea. The appearance of the skin in the treated area will likely differ from untreated skin until it has fully healed.
Severe skin reactions that interfere with daily activities or do not resolve may occur, indicating a need to stop using the cream and consult a healthcare provider. Overuse or incorrect application increases the risk of these reactions. Hypersensitivity reactions, such as difficulty breathing, swelling, and severe rashes, require immediate discontinuation of the cream and urgent medical attention. While treating, new warts may emerge, and the cream might not completely prevent their recurrence. If experiencing excessive or concerning side effects, especially within the first week of treatment or if flu-like symptoms or general discomfort arises, discontinue the medication and seek medical advice.
