What is a Generic Drug?

Directions

Zavzpret nasal spray should be used as directed by the prescribing doctor.

Recommended dosing:

Inhale one spray in one nostril as needed. More than one spray in 24 hours should not be used. The safety of treating more than 8 migraines in a 30-day period has not been established.

You should not test spray, prime, or press the plunger before use.

Zavzpret Nasal Spray Instructions

  1. Gently blow your nose.
  2. Take one blister out of the carton.
  3. Take the device out of the blister.
  4. Ensure the product has not expired. If it has expired, dispose of it properly.
  5. Place your thumb on the bottom of the plunger and two fingers on either side of the nozzle to hold the device upright.
  6. Close one nostril.
  7. Place the spray nozzle into the open nostril as far as is comfortable for you.
  8. Keep your head level and close your mouth. Slowly inhale through your nose while pressing the plunger up with your thumb to spray once into the open nostril.
  9. Remove the device from your nostril and release your finger from your other nostril. Keep your head level for 20 seconds while breathing gently through your nose and out through your mouth. If you feel dripping from your nose, sniff gently to ensure you do not lose any of the dose.
  10. Dispose of the used device into the trash.

Keep Zavzpret stored at room temperature between 20°C and 25°C (68°F and 77°F); keep away from children. Do not freeze the nasal spray.

Ingredients

Zavegepant is the active ingredient in Zavzpret.

Dextrose, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, and succinic acid in water for injection are the inactive ingredients included.

Contraindications

Zavzpret should not be used in patients who are allergic to zavegepant or to any of the medication’s other ingredients.

Cautions

  • Before you start using Zavzpret for your migraines, inform your doctor of the following:
    • All the medications you take, including other prescription and nonprescription migraine/headache medications or therapies
    • Your allergies
    • Your existing health conditions
    • Your previous medical history
    • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Hives, facial swelling, or other hypersensitivity reactions can occur with Zavzpret use. If these reactions occur, stop using Zavzpret and obtain medical treatment.

Side Effects

Zavzpret side effects include but are not limited to problems with taste, nausea, nasal discomfort, and vomiting.

Immediately contact your doctor if you experience bothersome or persistent side effects.
